Manually Upgrading Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router's Firmware

When we update the Firmware it fixes bugs and enhances functionality for the router. It is important to keep Linksys up-to-date with the software installed on your device, as it solves any problems that may arise when you use it. Updated firmware downloaded from the Linksys Support website may include device feature enhancement that was not available in previous versions.

Manually Updating The Router Firmware


Step 1: Download the latest firmware for your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router and save it to your computer.

IMPORTANT: If the downloaded firmware is a ZIP file, it must be unzipped before you can continue with the update.

NOTE: The file name may vary depending on the device firmware file.

Step 2: Sign in to your Linksys server account. For detailed instructions, click here.

Step 3: Click on Connectivity.

Step 4: In the Firmware Update section on the Basic tab, click the User Added Image button.


Step 5: Select the downloaded file and click Open.

Step 6: Click the User Added Image button.

Step 7: In the Update Firmware pop-up window, click Yes. Your router is updating the firmware.
 
NOTE: DO NOT turn off the router or close the browser window during this process.

Step 8: The router restart screen appears. Click OK to continue.
 
NOTE: It usually takes a few minutes to restart the router.


Step 9: Firmware update full screen, click OK.

Disables automatic updates

Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers also have an automatic firmware update feature that automatically updates the router whenever new firmware is available. If you want to prevent your router from receiving automatic firmware updates, you must disable the automatic firmware update function. Follow these steps:
 

Step1: Log in to your server Linksys account. Then he opens the web, according to the setup page, click Connectivity.

Note: If you do not have a Linksys router's web browser to access and open the web server account, enter "http: //myrouter.local" or "192.168.1.1" in the address bar according to the setup page and [defend ENTER].

Step 2: On the Linksys Server Account page, click Connectivity.

Step 3: On the basic tab, clear the check box next to Automatic under Firmware Update and click OK.

NOTE: To restore automatic updates, check the box next to Automatic and click OK.
